.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)
Issued at 247 PM EST Sat Dec 13 2025
A weak stationary boundary currently cuts the CWA in half and was
the source of some patchy fog, especially near Columbus, this
morning. As the sun comes out, temps will continue to climb into a
very pleasant early winter day. Highs in the mid 60s with some
pockets of low 70s are possible. Winds will ease from yesterday`s
breezy conditions although the occasional gust to 15mph could be
possible out a head of the approaching cold front. The chance for
scattered showers will increase during the overnight period and
linger into Sunday morning. Any areas that don`t see precip will
likely see fog given the saturated environment.
Strong high pressure in the upper midwest is set to bring down
the coldest air of the season Sunday night and into Monday. This
cold front will sweep away any lingering precip and the remnants
of today`s stationary front and leave very cold air in it`s place.
Lows on Sunday and into Monday morning are expected to fall into
the teens with windchill values approaching single digits. As a
result, a Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the CWA. It`ll
be a cold commute on Monday morning so please make sure kids and
pets are safe out there!

.LONG TERM...
(Monday morning through next Friday)
Issued at 247 PM EST Sat Dec 13 2025
The work week will start off with a downright chilly day as the
abnormally cold airmass from the weekends arctic front lingers
over the region. Temperatures during the morning commute will be
in the teens across most of north and central Georgia, prompting a
Cold Weather Advisory that will be in effect through 8AM Monday.
Despite high temps only climbing to the low to mid 40s again on
Monday, it will feel more pleasant than on Sunday as winds be very
light and skies will be sunny.
After the chilly Monday, a warming trend will take place for Tue-
Thu as a ridge sliding to our south across the Gulf pumps a more
seasonable (but still dry) airmass into the region within low to
mid level SW flow. Low temps will climb from the low to mid 20s
Monday night, to the low to mid 30s Tuesday night, and upper 30s
to low 40s for Wednesday night. Highs warm from the low to mid 50s
on Tuesday to the upper 50s on Wednesday, with low to mid 60s on
Thursday.
Our next notable chance for rain appears likely from mid-day
Thursday through Friday, as a strong mid-level trough and
associated frontal boundary ejects out of the Plains and slides
across much of the eastern US. As has been the case with the storm
track in recent weeks, the surface low will remain well off to
the north over the Great Lakes, so our only concerns would be
coverage and intensity of rain, which will be determined by how
much moisture moves through with the frontal boundary. At this
time, there does not look to be much of a cool down following this
front, and the overall trends for the 7-14 Day outlook favor
warmer and drier than normal conditions.
