.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Saturday)
Issued at 139 PM EST Fri Dec 12 2025
Expect a bit of a pattern shift for the weekend with increasing
clouds over north and central Georgia by Saturday afternoon.
Broad, upper level trough traversing the eastern US will guide a
subtropical jet shortwave into the area late Saturday and Sunday.
At this time, NBM POPs appear overdone for late Saturday over
northwest Georgia, so have backed off slightly in collaboration
with neighboring forecast areas. Will continue to watch whether
future model runs show better isentropic lift or more impressive
condensation pressure deficits over the area. For now, this
environment should just be enough to produce isolated very light
rain late Saturday.
This event continues into the long term and the discussion
continues into the next section.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday morning through next Thursday)
Issued at 139 PM EST Fri Dec 12 2025
A weak frontal boundary sinks south out of the upper to mid MS river
valley Sat night and pushes quickly through north and central GA by
Sun afternoon. As this front moves through we will see some light
showers mainly across western portions of the state with 0.10" to
0.25" of precip expected. The biggest issue with this frontal
boundary will be the cold airmass that it ushers into the region
Sunday.
As the front exits the area Temps will begin to fall across North GA
Sun afternoon. Were looking at high temps across the north GA
mountains Sun mainly in the 30s with highs in the ATL area in the
40s. Temps fall rapidly Sun evening/night with good northerly flow
pushing this dry/cold airmass into the area. Temps expected to
bottom out Mon morning in the teens to lower 20s across north and
central GA. These will definitely be some of the coldest temps we`ve
seen so far this season. Dewpoints can also be expected to dip down
into the single digits Monday afternoon which would help RH values
approach minimum values of 25% or below. If this occurs a Fire
Danger Statement may be needed. Temps do not rebound much Monday
with highs mainly in the lower to mid 40s across the entire area.
Will see lows back down into the 20s Mon night/Tue morning with
things beginning to rebound Tues. Will see highs Tue get up into the
50s and into the 60s Wed.
Other than the brief period of showers Sat night into Sun the
extended periods are expected to stay dry. High pressure settles in
over the region Mon/Tue and keep things precipitation free through
day 7. May see some increased cloud cover Wed/Thu of next week as
the ridge shifts a bit off the Carolina/GA coast but still no
precipitation expected.
